Day of Treatment Wait Times Now Much Shorter

We know that no one likes to wait in a medical office. At Special Smiles, waiting can be especially difficult because most patients have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) that prevent them from understanding what is happening and why.

On top of that, the patients are hungry and thirsty! They arrive having had no food or drink for many hours in preparation for the general anesthesia we must administer to care for them.

Reducing wait times on treatment days was one of our top goals at Special Smiles in 2025, and we’re excited to share some great news: on average, patients are now waiting 35% less time! This improvement came from adjusting patient arrival times based on a close review of our scheduling data, and the results speak for themselves. We’re proud of this progress — and even more excited to keep making your visits as smooth and easy as possible. 

Of course, caregivers still have to wait while treatment is underway, but we now have a way to make that wait more pleasant.
