Preventive Oral Healthcare Training for Pennsylvania Caregivers

NEW! Special Outreach Services (SOS) offers free outreach programs and educational resources to support Pennsylvania facilities and families in providing preventive oral healthcare for people with special needs.

Funding from the Special Smiles Dental Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, enables SOS to provide special needs caregivers in Pennsylvania with toothbrushing education and related programs at no charge.

SOS Preventive Oral Healthcare Offers:

  • On-site, hands-on visits to facilities and group homes for professional assessment of each individual’s current oral health and dental hygiene instruction with the patient and caregiver together.
  • Toothbrushing education videos for caregivers. Each short video explains an important aspect of providing routine dental hygiene to an individual with special needs, including how to lower stress.
  • A free online course to help caregivers increase their knowledge and skills in providing oral healthcare to individuals with special needs.
  • Speakers at no cost to groups or associations of families or professionals focused on helping individuals with special needs. Talks can be in-person or virtual, a presentation, a Q&A, or both.
