Autism Play Date Was Bubbles of Fun

Special Smiles, represented by Patricia Silverio and Gene Castellano, hosted a resource table at Philadelphia City Councilmember Derek Green’s Annual Autism Play Date. Held at the Smith Memorial Playground in Fairmount Park on August 28, the event provided a non-stressful atmosphere in which children on the spectrum could enjoy food, music, dancing, yoga instruction, karate instruction, and a puppet show.

Special Smiles provided educational information on oral hygiene and access to care. Parents had many questions regarding care but their children were more interested in trying out the bubble-maker in our give-away goodie bag. As the day continued, everywhere you looked the air was full of bubbles and the sound of children laughing.
